 Career

Hills is a former professional artistic gymnast from the United States of America. She was in the national team of the United States from the year 2007 to 2008. She was the trialist for the Olympics 2008. Unfortunately, in the year 2008, she had a shoulder injury. Because of that, she was unable to perform. so, in the year 2009, she was forced to retire.

After her athletic career, She started pursuing her career as a journalist. In her career as a journalist until now, she has been working with some of the popular networks like CBS, FOX 32, and others. Currently, she is working for the NBC 4 in Colombus as an anchor.

Darlene Hill joined NBC4 in September 2018, becoming the station’s 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. anchor.

Before coming back to Ohio, Darlene spent more than two decades at FOX32 in Chicago. During her career, she won numerous regional and national awards, including the prestigious Peabody Award, the Edward R. Murrow Award, and multiple Emmy Awards.

Darlene began her career three weeks after graduating from Ohio State when she accepted a reporter position in Monterey, California. Her career then took her to Chicago, where she covered the Democratic National Convention, the 2008 Presidential Inauguration, and local issues impacting Chicago and the surrounding communities. Darlene has two children, who are both in college.

In 1993, at the age of four, Dixon enrolled Hill in gymnastics classes at Will-Moor School of Gymnastics, following a stint of doing dance classes. Instantly, her coach, Kim Bonus, found raw talent in Darling, saying, “I knew she had it! She had the sport, she had the power, she had the grace; she had it all!”. In 2003, at the age of 13, she won the Level 9 Eastern National all-around title.

Hill advanced to Level 10 in 2004. She was the all-around champion for division Junior B at J.O. Nationals. Following her national achievement, she was named to the J.O National Team in 2004. Later, in May 2004, she participated in the United States, Classic as a Pre-Elite gymnast. She was third in the all-around.

In 2008, Hill signed with a paid sponsor, Team Gattaca, and thus, forfeited NCAA eligibility. At this time, she was searching for a specialist who could perform surgery on her ongoing shoulder injuries that she was suffering during the 2008 season; as well as a sprained left ankle and hyper-extended left knee. It was Hill’s goal to return to elite gymnastics for the 2009 season and beyond but she was forced into retirement because of her injuries.
