In 2013, he survived a harrowing brush with death when he was caught in an EF3 tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma — a day that claimed eight lives. One year later, undeterred, he was back in the field for the 2014 Tornado Track, continuing to bring life-saving coverage to viewers nationwide.
