Welcome to Kabete National Polytechnic, the grandfather of technical training in Kenya. Tucked neatly along Waiyaki Way, right next to Uthiru Market, this institution has been molding minds, wiring futures, and welding dreams together for almost a century.
If you’ve ever asked, “Where can I get top-notch technical education that’s both respected and real?”—the answer has always been: Kabete Tech.
Kabete National Polytechnic didn’t just pop up last week.
Born in 1924, it started out as a humble technical school. But like a good plot twist, it briefly turned into a WWII soldier training camp (because who doesn’t love a career change?), then morphed into a primary school, followed by a secondary school. Finally, in 1972, it got back to its roots and began offering solid, three-year technical courses.
In 2016, after a lifetime of leveling up, Kabete was officially crowned a National Polytechnic, complete with accreditation from TVET—because greatness deserves recognition.
Easy to find, hard to forget:
Kabete National Polytechnic sits proudly along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway, just past AHITI Kabete, and a stone’s throw from Uthiru Market. If you can smell mandazi in the air and hear matatus honking—you’re close.
Let’s put it this way:
If technical excellence had a face, it would be wearing a Kabete hoodie.
Kabete is not only one of the best-performing technical institutions in the country, but it’s also government-sponsored, respected nationwide, and a top choice for students who want hands-on, industry-ready skills without the fluff.
Feeling ready to level up your future? Here’s when to jump in:
Kabete’s intakes are in January, April, May, and September.
But don’t wait for the last minute—this isn’t a matatu. Seats fill up fast.
Working a 9-5? No problem. Kabete offers Part-time and Distance Learning options, because upgrading your life shouldn’t mean quitting your job.
Kabete offers a buffet of technical programs—everything from engineering to ICT, business, health sciences, and artisan-level training. Whether you’re building bridges or building apps, there’s a course with your name on it.
(You can request the full course list if you’re hungry for the details.)
