Ed Henry Biography
Ed Henry is an American journalist best known for his work as co-host of America’s Newsroom on Fox News Channel alongside Sandra Smith. Previously, he served as Fox News’ Chief White House Correspondent after leaving CNN in 2011. His career faced a major setback in 2020 when Fox News terminated his employment following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct, allegations Henry has disputed.
Early Life and Education
Born on July 20, 1971, in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City, Ed Henry grew up in a working-class family—his father was a dairy manager and his mother a bookkeeper. After attending St. Joseph’s Grammar School, his family relocated to Deer Park, Long Island. Henry later graduated from St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. He launched his journalism career working with famed columnist Jack Anderson.
Ed Henry Career
Henry began providing political analysis for WMAL’s Morning News and The Chris Core Show in Washington, D.C., in 2003. He covered Capitol Hill for eight years for Roll Call, penning the popular “Heard on the Hill” column. At CNN, Henry rose through the ranks, becoming a senior White House correspondent by December 2008. He also moderated CNN’s Inside Politics.
Fox News
In June 2011, Henry left CNN to join Fox News as Chief White House Correspondent. Reports at the time suggested CNN management had already informed him that his contract would not be renewed. Henry later stated he had no regrets about the move. In addition to his correspondent duties, he also served as co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend and America’s Newsroom.
However, Henry’s career at Fox faced turbulence. In 2016, he was suspended for four months after reports surfaced of an extramarital affair with a Las Vegas cocktail hostess, Natalia Lima. Then in June 2020, Fox News suspended Henry following new allegations of sexual misconduct. After an internal investigation, he was fired on July 1, 2020. A federal lawsuit subsequently accused Henry of sexually harassing and raping a former Fox News employee, Jennifer Eckhart, and harassing another woman, Cathy Areu. The lawsuit also alleged Fox News enabled his misconduct until they faced legal pressure. Henry has denied all allegations and maintains his innocence.
