Krystle Long Biography

Krystle Long is an 11-time Emmy® Award-winning meteorologist and multi-skilled journalist for 12News. A proud East Valley native, Krystle joined the 12News team in September 2013.

Her broadcasting career began in Medford, Oregon, where she spent four years at KTVL News 10, the CBS affiliate. There, she served as the weekend news and weather anchor and weekday multimedia journalist, covering communities across southern Oregon and northern California. During her time at KTVL, Krystle earned two Associated Press Awards—one for Best Weathercast and another for Best Continuing Coverage.

Krystle is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism. She also minored in Business at the W.P. Carey School of Business and was inducted into the National Honor Society of Journalists. She graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Her passion for weather sparked while completing her degree at ASU, after she began doing weathercasts for Cronkite Newswatch. Eager to deepen her understanding of meteorology, Krystle pursued further education at Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science and a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology.

Beyond her work on-air, Krystle is deeply committed to the journalism community. She has served on the NATAS Rocky Mountain Chapter’s Board of Governors since 2018 and on its foundation board since its establishment in 2019. As the current Education Chair, she is passionate about mentoring and supporting the next generation of journalists and meteorologists. Her involvement with the Student Production Awards, which she has hosted annually since 2017, is a testament to her dedication to education and community outreach.
