The Kenya School of TVET (KSTVET), is the place where technical prowess meets professionalism, all under the Ministry of Education's grand umbrella of whimsy.
Inception of Genius:
Once upon a time, in the enchanted land of Technical Education, the Kenya School of TVET (formerly KTTC) emerged as the brainchild of the Ministry of Education. Its mission? To summon forth a legion of technically skilled wizards, not just to dazzle in Technical Institutions, but to sprinkle their magic across every nook and cranny of the economy.
HITS and Misses:
As Harambee Institutes (HITS) sprouted like mushrooms and Technical Training Institutes staged their grand entrance, it was clear that the demand for technical teachers was reaching celebrity status. The government, in its infinite wisdom, decided to consult the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) from 1973 to 1978. Because, obviously, when in doubt, call the Canadians
Grand Opening - Cue Drumroll:
In 1978, the Kenya School of TVET swung its doors wide open, ready to embrace the first batch of eager minds. The grand maestro of ceremonies? None other than H.E. Daniel T. Arap Moi, EGH, MP. The man of the hour officially cut the ribbon on March 16, 1979, probably with a pair of oversized scissors, because why not?
Canadian Invasion - The Great Swap:
Initially, the teaching staff was a delightful blend of Canadians, who probably said "eh" more than necessary. However, realizing that Kenyans could wield magic just as well, the Canadians generously handed over the reins. Between 1978 and 1993, a whopping 135 Kenyans gracefully replaced their Canadian counterparts. Talk about a friendly invasion
The Success Chronicles:
The first graduation ceremony in 1979 was probably a riot of laughter and technical brilliance. Who knew that mixing education with a dash of Canadian charm could lead to such success?
So there you have it, the Kenya School of TVET, where technical education meets Canadian camaraderie, and the laughter is just as abundant as the knowledge. Join us on this whimsical journey of learning, where every day is a hilarious graduation day.
