Mbagathi County Referral Hospital, formerly known as South Hill Hospital for Infectious Diseases, was established in 1956 by Sir Fredrick Crawford. Originally built as an isolation unit for contagious diseases like tuberculosis, measles, cholera, leprosy, and others, it operated as an extension of the then King George VI Hospital (now Kenyatta National Hospital). For years, it was widely recognized as the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH).
Fast forward to today, Mbagathi has transformed into a modern, fully-fledged referral hospital, serving the Nairobi Metropolis and surrounding regions.
Originally: 266 beds
