Nestled on the edge of the Indian Ocean like a pearl dropped by a forgetful mermaid, Peponi Hotel is Lamu’s not-so-hidden gem, run by the legendary Korschen family since the 1960s. (Yes, that’s before avocado toast became a thing.) What started as a “let’s stop here for one last look” holiday turned into, well, a full-blown coastal love affair. Argentina never stood a chance.

Our Rooms – A Nap with a View

We’ve organically grown to 29 rooms because, much like coconuts, you can’t rush perfection. All rooms boast ocean views—because what’s a stay in paradise without one?

Standard Rooms – Perfectly lovely with private verandas, Swahili flair, and a fan that gently whispers sweet nothings as you sleep.

Superior Rooms – Like the Standard Room… but with VIP vibes. Bigger space, prime location, and a swing bed that makes adulting optional.

Family Rooms – Travel squad in tow? We’ve got rooms for up to 4 humans (and at least 8 flip-flops). Superior or Standard—your call.

Apartments – For the kings, queens, and kitchen lovers. These come with 2 superior bedrooms, a kitchen, and living space for dance-offs.

Dining – Our Menu Wears Flip-Flops

Inspired by the tides and made with local love, our kitchen is like your favorite grandma—always cooking something delicious and never using a microwave. Our seafood is caught by fisherman who know the sea better than Google Maps, and the menu evolves with the seasons like a well-dressed Instagram influencer.

Getting Here – The Fun Begins Before Check-In

By Air: Fly into Manda Island (via Nairobi, Malindi, or Mombasa). Our boat will pick you up James Bond-style—minus the tux.

By Land: If you enjoy pothole adventures, drive to Mokowe Jetty and hop on a boat to Shela. It’s not the smoothest route, but it makes for a great story.
