Zetech University Where Innovation Meets Education

Zetech University, nestled in the heart of Kiambu County, Kenya, is a modern private institution that’s been shaping bright minds since 1999. Founded by the visionary Engineer Ken Mbiuki, who literally started out teaching IT from his dorm room (talk about humble beginnings!), Zetech has grown into a fully-fledged university with the approval of the Commission for University Education.

Back in the day, Zetech teamed up with JKUAT to offer programmes, but like any go-getter, it eventually struck out on its own. After receiving its Letter of Interim Authority in 2014, Zetech began rolling out its own unique courses and was proudly awarded its charter in August 2022 by none other than H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Leadership: Prof. Njenga Munene at the Helm

Zetech’s current Vice Chancellor, Professor Njenga Munene, joined the university in April 2018. A full professor of Clinical Veterinary Medicine and a former Deputy VC at Egerton University, he brings years of experience, strategic thinking, and a love for spreadsheets and tender committees.

Zetech University: A Little History Lesson

Before it was Zetech, it was Zenith Technologies—a brainchild of Ken Mbiuki’s dorm room experiments back in 1997. With only an idea, a PC, and a dream, Ken moved from dorm-room lectures to Summit House offices in 1999, officially launching Zetech College (a name born from Zenith + Technology). Fast-forward to today, and we’ve got a full-blown, chartered university offering everything from ICT to Tourism.

Got a headache, stress, or existential dread before exams? The on-campus Health and Counseling Centre has your back (literally and emotionally). Open from 8am to 6pm, the facility handles everything from injuries to mental health support and emergency first aid training.
