Tamara Berg Bio

Tamara Berg is an American meteorologist currently bringing weather updates to KCRA 3. She became a part of the KCRA 3 weather team in December 2011 after spending three years forecasting at KION-TV in Salinas.

Tamara Berg is the weather guru you want on your side when Mother Nature gets moody. As a meteorologist for KCRA 3, Tamara has been forecasting Northern California’s weather since December 2011, after honing her skills for three years at KION-TV in Salinas. Originally from Cleveland, Tamara now proudly calls Northern California home.

At KION, Tamara tackled every kind of weather you can imagine—mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes, and even the 2011 tsunami that reached the shores of Santa Cruz. Before that, she kicked off her career in Toledo, Ohio, where she braved extreme snowfall, chased thunderstorms, and reported on river flooding.

Tamara is a double-degree meteorological powerhouse with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Baldwin-Wallace University and a B.S. in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She’s also a card-carrying member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.

When she’s not predicting the weather, Tamara is probably outside conquering it. She’s a marathon maniac, having run a dozen marathons and one ultramarathon (yes, that’s 30+ miles!). She’s completed the Big Sur Marathon four times, CIM three times, and even tackled the grueling Way Too Cool 50K. Adventure and challenge are her middle names, and you’ll also find her hiking, biking, kayaking, and snowboarding whenever she can.

Tamara Berg Coach

Tamara doesn’t just chase storms—she chases good causes, too. She volunteers as a coach with Girls on the Run of Sacramento, helping 3rd-5th graders build confidence through running. She also lends her voice as an emcee for events with the American Heart Association, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, and All About Equine.

Tamara found love in Sacramento, and she and her husband welcomed their first child in November 2020. Whether soaking up the summer sun by the river or enjoying Tahoe’s winter wonders, Tamara and her family know how to make the most of every season.
