In the wild and wacky year of 2003, McGill kicked off his football adventures with the Carolina Cobras before being traded to the New York Dragons in a deal that probably left Matt Nagy scratching his head. The Utah Blaze thought they struck gold by snagging him as the 3rd pick during the 2005 expansion draft, but alas, McGill was too busy trying to charm his way onto the Packers roster.

Hold your applause; McGill never got to sizzle on the Blaze field because, you know, Green Bay dreams. Fast forward to October 11, 2006, and surprise, surprise, his rights were traded again, this time to the Nashville Kats, alongside Thal Woods, all for the legendary Frank Carter. Before the season could even start, McGill found himself packing up again, this time heading to the Storm in exchange for the mysterious Demetrius Bendross. It’s like McGill was the rockstar of football trades – always on the move, leaving fans wondering if he needed a GPS on the field!

Tim McGill, an Emmy award-winning AMS (American Meteorological Society) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, boasts an impressive career with 28 years at WGN and Chicagoland Television in Chicago, and an additional year and a half at CBS 2 Chicago. His expertise extends to serving as the morning meteorologist for WGN Radio, collaborating with notable names like Bob Collins, Spike O’Dell, Jonathan Brandmeier, and Steve Cochran.

For the past two decades, Tim has shared his weather knowledge as an instructor at three different colleges and universities, including The School of The Art Institute and, more recently, Columbia College and Roosevelt University. Before returning to Chicago, he spent a year as a reporter and meteorologist at WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and six years at WCTI-TV in New Bern, North Carolina, where he wore multiple hats, including business and sports segments, but primarily excelled as a meteorologist. Tim also briefly worked for the Chicago office of the National Weather Service and launched his blog, ChicagoWeatherTalk.com, in March.

Originally from Schaumburg, Tim now resides in the far northern suburbs with his wife, having attended both the University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University, where he earned his BS in Meteorology. A family man, Tim is a proud father of four, a grandfather to four, and a dog owner. In his leisure time, he finds joy in fishing and running, even completing the Chicago Marathon twice.

Beyond his professional and personal pursuits, Tim, alongside his wife, has taken on a meaningful role in leading 15 short-term mission trips with teams from their church. Many of these trips have focused on aiding Native Americans in the Navajo Nation territory of New Mexico.
